HL: Thane strikes gold and silver

Putting up a good show of their expertise, gymnasts from Thane managed to bag 51 medals at the general championship in the 55th National Level Gymnastic Competition held at Chandigarh from October 22-27.
Of the 2,300 participants from 22 states in the country, Maharashtra bagged the most prizes in the competition. Students from Thane's Saraswati Sports Complex too participated in the tournament and achieved success.
While Priti Tipale won a gold medal in the under-14 girls group, Prajakta Deshpande and Pallavi Shimpi won gold medals in the under-17 category. Gayatri Sohni bagged a gold medal in the under-19 category for girls.
Boys from the city too achieved similar success. While Aditya Dumre bagged a silver medal in the under-17 category for boys, Akshat Vaidya won a bronze medal in the Pommel Horse event.
All winners from the city have been taking coaching at Saraswati Sports Complex under the District Sports Gymnastic Teaching Centre with Mahendra Babhulkar and Pravin Dhage as their instructors.
