Thanks to the strict vigil by police on Bhiwandi Bypass road, 34 bulls allegedly being taken illegally to a slaughter house were rescued. Two persons including the truck driver have been arrested.
According to Bhiwandi Taluka police station, a patrolling team first spotted the truck loaded with several bullocks on Bhiwandi Bypass road on Monday evening. On being questioned by the police, it was revealed that the truck driver and his aide did not possess the documents required to take animals to the slaughter house. According to the police, the duo admitted that the 34 bullocks were being transported from Shahda in Dhule to a slaughter house in Bhiwandi.
Assistant sub inspector SJ Jankar from Bhiwandi Taluka police station, said, "The person carrying an animal to the slaughter house should possess the medical certificate of the animal." As the truck driver Irfan Hamid Sheikh, 32, and his associate Saddam Nawab Kureshi did not possess the certificate, the duo was held for illegal transportation of animals. The bullocks were sent to the animal care centre in Bhiwandi.
