A gang of 12-15 robbers allegedly looted two storehouses filled with electronic gadgets after reportedly assaulting and tying the two unarmed security officers with a rope. Surprisingly, leaving the China-made mobile phones behind, the gang only allegedly took away the batteries and chips of the phones.
According to Manikpur police, the storehouses of Enky Technology India and Wespro, two Mumbai-based trading firms, are located at Shakti Industrial Estate in Vasai east. The firms had stored electronic gadgets reportedly worth Rs40 crore including the made in China mobile phones, telephone systems, projectors, cameras, VCDs and LCDs. Two unarmed security persons would keep a watch on the storehouses.
On Monday, after midnight while the two security officers were on duty, a gang of 12-15 robbers barged into the estate. They started allegedly beating the security persons and then tied them with ropes. Opening the mobile phones, the gang allegedly removed the batteries and chips and left the place with the booty.
The Manikpur police have registered a case of robbery.
