Nurse, man killed in bike accidents

A 22-year-old woman was killed in a road accident on the Western Express Highway in Kandivli (East) on Monday afternoon.
According to the police, Deepali Sutar, who worked as a nurse in a hospital in Malad, was riding pillion on a bike. She and her friend Mansuk Patel were on their way to Malad from Borivli National Park. They were hit by a three-wheeler tempo near the Sai Dham Mandir.
Patel lost control of the bike and the two of them fell on the road. Sutar, a resident of Kranti Nagar in Kandivli (East), sustained serious head injuries.
"She was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital but was declared dead on arrival," said A Kenjale, senior inspector, Samata Nagar police station.
Police have registered a case of death due to rash and negligent driving against the tempo driver who is currently absconding.

Sandip Patil, a resident of Mauli Niwas Society, Borivli (East), lost control of his bike after the BEST bus rammed him from behind. He died on the spot, police said. The bus driver has been arrested.
