BJP seeks inquiry into Cong chief's Koda connection

bjp_443_01The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Wednesday, demanded an enquiry into the state Congress president, Kripashankar Singhs alleged connections with the tainted former Jharkhand chief minister, Madhu Koda.

"Why were the bank accounts of Madhu Koda and his colleague Kamlesh Singh, an NCP MLA from Jharkhand, not frozen?" asked Somaiya. Kamlesh Singh is the father-in-law of Kripashankar Singhs son, Sanjay.

Somaiya said that the acquisition of Natraj Financial was a manipulative transaction. "The company was used by Madhu Kodas group for money laundering. This company has around 330 shareholders all belonging to Madhu Koda Group," he said. The IT department had recently raided Balaji Bullions, Natraj Financial and Luxury Exports in the case.

"The government should disclose the list of shareholders and beneficiaries of Natraj Financial, Balajai Bullions and Commodities, and Luxury Exports. The investment and purchase of flats and commercial properties in Mumbai by these groups should also be disclosed," said said Kirit Somaiya, state BJP vice president. A BJP delegation led by Somaiya met Rakesh Kumar, the director of company affairs, on Wednesday and put the demands before him.

Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and his associates are facing charges of money laundering and were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning on alleged hawala transactions and investments. Notices were also issued to seven of his associates by the ED, the sources said. These documents pertain to alleged hawala transactions and investments running into more than Rs2,000 crore.
