A panch witness on Friday identified the chopper which was allegedly used to hack the body of TV producer Neeraj Grover.
Rajesh Parab, 36, deposed that the chopper was discovered near Grover's remains which were found in the jungles of Manor. Parab had accompanied the police to the jungles in search of Grover's remains in May last year. The chopper, which has saw-like teeth on one side, was allegedly found 20-25 feet from Grover's remains.
Public prosecutor RV Kini said: "The witness's deposition provides an important link to the prosecution, as the case is based on circumstantial evidence."
Kannad actress Maria Susairaj and naval officer Emile Jerome are facing trial for the murder of Grover which took place in May 2008.
According to the prosecution, on May 7, 208, Matthew had allegedly murdered Grover with a bread knife after finding him at Susairaj's residence. The duo had hacked his body and then burnt it at the Manor jungles on the outskirts of the city.
