Hyderabad: Union home minister P Chidambaram said on Friday there was an "obvious Pakistan link" to David Coleman Headley, arrested by the FBI for plotting a major attack in India at the Lashkar-e-Taiba's behest.
"Headley visited Pakistan a number of times and I think on the advice of the FBI, two or perhaps more people have been arrested in Pakistan," he told reporters here.
He was replying to a question if there was any input on Pakistan link to the plot to attack the prestigious National Defence College in New Delhi in which FBI has arrested Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Pakistan-born Canadian citizen and Chicago resident.
Chidambaram said the FBI had filed affidavits in this connection in a Chicago court.
On whether the Indian government was informed about it, Chidambaram said, "If you are asking whether I was informed about it, the answer is yes. If the question is whether you will be informed about it, the answer is no."
Chidambaram used the occasion to berate Pakistan for not making "serious and convincing efforts" to eliminate terrorism, saying "all terrorist camps" were intact in that country. He, however, said that Indian security forces were capable of thwarting any attack. --Agencies

Anti-Maoist operation is a media invention: Chidambaram
Hyderabad: The Centre was not carrying out any operation against Maoist guerrillas but only assisting states in counter-insurgency measures, Union home minister P Chidambaram said on Friday. He labelled the anti-Maoist operation a media invention. He also declined to react to the Maoists' reported offer for conditional talks with the government, saying he had not seen the statement.
"There is no operation. The operation Green Hunt or whatever is a pure invention of the media," Chidambaram told reporters. --IANS
