IIM-Bangalore (IIM-B), which kicked off its 2009-11 summer placement season on Friday, saw banking biggies Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Royal Bank of Scotland and Citibank upping the ante for the post-graduate programme (PGP) batch of 350 students.
The day also saw consulting firms McKinsey, Bain, BCG, AT Kearney and Booz & Company making an appearance.
A total of 140 companies will visit IIM-B this summer, up from last year's 120. The premier B-school is expecting international offers in the range of $4000-$8000, while domestic payouts will be in the range of Rs20,000-Rs1,20,000.
Global consulting firm Booz & Company made three offers with stipends in the range of Rs2-3 lakh. "With a revival in sentiments, the demand for consulting is up. We have made three offers to IIM-B students for domestic positions and already hired three interns from IIM-A," the company's India MD Suvojoy Sengupta said.
Full-service investment bank Edelweiss Capital has made 22-25 offers to summer interns spread across six IIMs, including A, B and C, and XLRI this year. "We are looking for students with analytical skills who bring rigour to the table," the bank's campus recruiter Falguni D Madhavani said.
Beverage giant Coca-Cola, a slot-zero recruiter at IIMs, is hiring 15 B-school interns from FMS, XLRI and IIM-A, B, C and L.
