Pvt airlines hike fuel surcharge
Domestic private carriers Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Go Air and SpiceJet have increased their fuel surcharge on Friday, due to a hike in the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF). The private carriers increased the surcharge for flights below 1,000 km by Rs100 and by Rs200 beyond that. The increase is only applicable on domestic routes. Last week, state-owned oil firms had hiked jet fuel prices by 9% to over Rs39,000 per kilolitre after a spurt in international oil rates. Indian carriers levy a fuel surcharge of Rs1,950 and Rs2,700 up to and beyond 1,000 km respectively.
