Mumbai: The Board of Directors of Global Trust Bank (GTB) at its meeting held on Thursday, appointed former Corporation Bank Chairman R S Hugar as the new chairman of GTB.

Hugar, who was the Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank from April 97 to May 2000, is presently the director of the 'Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Mumbai'.

Soon after his appointment, Mr Hugar said that he was pleasantly surprised, but nevertheless delighted by the sudden offer of the GTB Board. “This is my second innings and I want to take GTB to new heights,” he said.

The GTB board earlier in the day reluctantly accepted former Chairman Ramesh Gelli's resignation from his office.
