Well let's not allow these so called Nationalists to make India the second
Germany. All those who prefer Advani and Co at the helm of affairs shall
read the biography of Hitler to understand what these nationalists can do!!!
Let me ask a simple question. When was this country a single " Hindustan"? Or at least as a single country by any name? It's all after 1947. So forget this 'Hindutva' rubbish and don't try emulating those other religious fanatics.
Give them what they ask for...after all its just apiece of land. Please don't talk about strategic importance and other nonsense. Do you think the rest of India is unimportant that we have to hang on this headache on the top so fervently? Get the trouble maker out of our way and MOVE AHEAD!!!
Ask the people of India directly by means of a referendum and I am sure a clear majority will prefer this solution. Get rid of these stupid nationalists, socialists, communalists, communists and build a new India with PATRIOTS AND SECULARISTS!!! - Gnanaprakasam Prabhu
I am Indian first and then a Hindu. I am proud of it. But at the same time I am ashamed of the way Gujarat CM Narendra Modi is behaving. He is openly expressing his anti-Muslim sentiments. Instead let him catch the guilty people involved in the riots. It is a shame for him to give such inflammatory speeches during the 'gaurav yatra' (Gujarat BJP's campaign for prestige).
Indians in general need to learn a LOT from the United States. Yes, I agree with the writer who says why take the permission of US and UN to guard our borders, but there is nothing wrong to learn from the good things that the US has. For instance, we lost a brave NSG commando in the Akshardham attack. And most newspapers buried the photograph and related stories about him in the inside pages. What if this had happened in the US? Every major TV network, 'Newsweek', 'Time', 'Washington Post' would have bombarded the readers with his photo, about his family and his hometown. It gives the people a lot of pride to share the sufferings of their fellow beings and brings about a patriotic fervour.
India is a cricket crazy country. May I know what our cricketers have done for the defence forces or the police? Have you seen the team visiting J&K to boost the moral of our brave and ignored jawans? Does this cricket team know that the jawan prays for India to win even though he is not sure if he will be "alive" the very next minute? India was playing Zimbabwe in India during the Dec 13 Parliamentary attack. It was disgusting to see how the team ignored the incident.
Shouldn't they have worn a black band to show respect for our police force, who saved the Parliament House? The cricketers need to understand by wearing a black band many youngsters will be inspired and will be better citizens. I am not asking the team to bash Pakistan in their interviews, we have heard enough of that from our patriotic politicians. We just want them to say "We are very sorry to hear about the loss of lives in Gujarat". The cricketers owe that much to the country.
Our cricketers can learn a lot from the professional players in the US - every major team, player boosted the morale of the US residents after the 9/11 attack. Alas, our selfish cricketers and the Indian print media will never learn. - Mahesh Kumar
The subject of surgical strikes in PoK is a very interesting one. Though it is very tempting to carry out such strikes, however the time is not yet right. The consequences of a hasty action are many. Any such strike would be considered an act of war by Pakistan and would bring about retaliation from their ARMY.
And I have no doubt that their Army would retaliate without even waiting for any approval from the Pakistani government. Such is the state of Pak Army. War would be thrust on so many innocent people. And even if the strikes are successful, we are not sure whether militancy will stop.
The present diplomacy of pressurising Pakistan to act against the very militants it created is very good and has significantly more benefits. The next thing India has to do is pursue the financial backers of these terrorists. Hunt them down wherever they are on this globe and see that they are arrested or eliminated.
It is good to see that Pakistan is getting frustrated over India's response on J&K. This means that our diplomacy is working well. Pakistan is beginning to see that there is no way for them to grab anything worthwhile from Kashmir.
In the meantime, instead of surgical strikes at militant camps, we should try covert means of eliminating the militants, their hideouts and their leaders. True, Pakistan will cry, but cannot afford to START War, since they have publicly said for the umpteenth time that they will never declare war. - Ananth Bhat

India has been tolerating this proxy war from across the border for far too long now. It is high time that we go proactive and conduct hot pursuits to finish the training camps for the terrorists being conducted in Pakistan.
Our tolerance should not be misunderstood as weakness. We have given enough chances to Pakistan to mend its ways and to the so-called friends in the West for advising Pakistan to mend its ways, but to no avail.
The time has come to once and for all to take a decisive action. This is only going to enhance our reputation in the world because they are aware that we are a tolerant nation, but what they are not aware is that if pushed to the brink we're equally capable of paying back in the same coin. – Vijay Chourey
The article has been well worded. I think majority of the Indians are in line with the authors. Attacking Pakistan is fine if we are supposed teach lesson to the people like Palestine.
But, what we need to understand is that we will be engaging with another nuclear and rogue country. Secondly, what about the Indian economy? Should we become a pray for the US game plan of engaging both the countries in war and it again becomes the big brother and does brisk business of its obsolete defence store?
In spite of all these I am of the firm belief that we should do precision attack through missiles, which the Indian Air Force is capable of handling at its training centres and near the border areas from where the ultras have been terrorising the border area civilians and frequently firing on our armed forces.
Of course we should justify our action as being done by US and allied force on Iraq. An attack at the wish of US. If by chance that becomes a full fledged war, we should be prepared for it and put an end to the menace once and for all. We shouldn't tolerate this repeated attack on innocents from the militants across the border. - S Shivarama Adiga
When India can fight with infiltrators at the line of control (LoC) and save
our country, why can't they do it in Kashmir. If a substantial part of the Army
is diverted to Kashmir it's not impossible to flush the terrorists from
Kashmir. But, there should not be any political interference in the matter.
The Indian Army commandos can comb and search house to house and
flush the armed gang after surrounding a particular zone say a street,
where the terrorists will go? It's all failing due to political interference.
If the black cat commandos are a given free hand to flush of terrorists by
combing door to door and take it on war footing, they can free Kashmir of
all the terrorists. When the Army can free East Pakistan and make it
Bangladesh, I don't think Kashmir is a bigger problem than that. – D
Sreenivasa Rao
The Akshardham incident was a reply to what happened in Gujarat. It's about time that the government did "something" about these so called terrorist camps. The armed forces and paramilitary forces are being used for safety of these 'dhotiwalas' and not for what they are intended.
This has resulted in a lot of frustration and has affected the morale of our troops especially since nothing was done to avenge the Kaluchak incident. That did'nt make the 'netas' (leaders) sit up. What might have made a difference is if the December 13 incident was a success!!!
So, YES take the cue from Israel, "hit em hard", then you'd be justified to go about in your saffron underwear saying "garv se kaho hum hindu hain". Go and get them. - Vasant Phatak
Is that a joke? Why is the Army for? I'm actually surprised that such questions are being asked. Commando operations are supposed to be executed only for operations like hijackings and hostages and other emergency operations. We have a huge Army.
The terrorist camps are small flies and our Army is good enough for that. The point is not who goes for the camps. Do we have (or the politicians) have the gut and the will to do it. All we do is beg towards the international community (read USA) and seek their permission. Take a leaf out of Israel's book and see how they deal with their problems. A bullet for a bullet.
If India cannot go for out and out battle, tit for tat, we could resort to proxy wars. Whatever happened to the 'mohajir quami' movement. Try instigating riots between 'Sunni' and 'Shia'. For heaven's sake, let India take some action. No country gives a damn to our problems and it's foolhardy for us to expect it. - Chetan N S
They must take such or similar action. Terrorists in fact expect it. If you do not take action to eliminate or substantially destroy their training and launching pads, they will grow in strength and effectiveness. Then the problem may quite become unmanageable.
Just being defensive, making a hue and cry, making speeches and entreating others to sympathise and commiserate with you will not work. You have to act on our own problem. This is India's paramount problem, far more important than some of the Five-Year plan projects.
No foreign power is going step in and solve this for you. Nor would you want them to do for you. Who would respect a nation, supposed to be Independent, and yet, which does not know how to properly protect itself? This is like an infection in the body politic. It should be addressed and nipped in the bud, before it spreads.
We are quite justified in crossing the border to do this act of self protection. Many countries in the world are proceeding to do just that. The UN will not intervene. We should look after our own security. - H V Rangachar, Englishtown, NJ, USA
India should do the following: a) make a list of strategic locations in and around LoC (let's say in 10 to 30 miles circumference), b) clear Pakistan Army from there (use surgical air strikes and Army), c) Install bases in new locations, connect them by road and other transport- this will help us to monitor the LoC better (of course they will start using other avenues) and d) Declare Pakistan as terrorist country and cut all relations.
Ask other nations also to do so. They may not listen. If they don't listen, indicate to them India will treat this as an unfriendly act and act against them when situation comes (for example vote against them in multilateral forums).
Pakistan will not change. Their state policy is to find soft spots in India and strike. It was Kashmir, now Gujarat, tomorrow some other state (Kerala or TN). India has to change and take aggressive & pro-active action. Let the world know we are serious and we will be successful... Jai Hind. - Vijay
I think it is high time for Indian politicians to act. India should take a step like Israel, otherwise our peace and life of thousands of people are in danger. We know one think that infiltration will never stop and it is our stupidity to wait for that day.
We waited enough and its time for action rather than words. Indian people want action. If our government cannot do anything they have no right to be in power.
What's the use of millions of soldiers being posted in Kashmir when militants are still active and can highjack a building at any point of time. We surely are lacking somewhere. We need a young Prime Minister now. Someone like Rajiv Gandhi. - Rajesh
First we need to eliminate the ISI network that has spread internally in India and then attack PoK terrorist camps. India also should wage a proxy war with Pakistan.
In Pakistan there are so many groups that are fighting for separate country. India should help these elements as Pakistan is doing in Kashmir. India shouldn't tolerate anymore. We need tit for tat. Also our dirty politicians should be removed from power since Parliamentary system has failed in India.
The Army should be given more powers to deal with militancy and enemy designs. The intelligence network must be given more powers and strength to identify the ISI network and destroy it before it strikes innocent people. How could Islamic militants survive in India without the help of some Indian Muslims.
We need strict a Law in India. Any one working against this country should be given death sentence. It's time for all right thinking intellectuals to raise their voices against Islamic terrorism in India sponsored by Pakistan. Pakistan's main aim is to destabilise India by using Indian Muslims and religion. God only can save India. - Reddy
Politicians, you've done it again. Your efficiency in tearing the nation apart is commendable, you, with your white 'topis', white 'kurtas' and white beards have only black hearts. Kashmir, Delhi, Ayodhya, Bombay, Godhra, Gujarat, Gandhinagar.......the saga continues.
All we impotent Indians can do is shut our shops and businesses the next day because YOU want to flex your otherwise useless muscles. You stand behind a hundred NSG Commandos and give us slogans which, even if multiplied by a trillion, CANNOT FEED ONE HUNGRY STOMACH.
Once he leaves Indian shores, our honourable PM expresses regret over the mass murder of our people in Gujarat and elsewhere, and when he's back, he depends on the same mass murderers to win him the next election. Our Khadi-clad worthies fall over each other offering military support, air bases ad infinitum when people in America die, but Indian lives are obviously not worth it.
The entire Army is mobilised when Parliament is attacked, but the lives of the Kaluchak Jawans's families or those of the Gandhinagar temple devotees are obviously not worth it. God, we Indians have become so predictable. Our enemies and our politicians (is there a difference?) are playing us like a finely-tuned cello.
We give them enough reason to know for a fact that Ayodhya will lead to Bombay, Godhra will lead to Gujarat. You are going to HELL, Mr/Ms Politician, but the sad, sad truth is, you're going to lead us there first. - Bharatram Gaba
