Kidnap a shame on Karnataka, TN govts!
By Rajiv Shukhla
It is a matter of shame for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu state governments that Veerappan has struck again. Frankly, I am not surprised this has happened. The question is why did he take so long to kidnap anyone after the release of Dr Rajkumar?
Why is the Karnataka govt trying to boast that they are technologically advanced? The govt has always ignored the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) when it had offered to help to track down the brigand.
Is it really that difficult to track down an offender when he is in the jungle? If he was in a city it would have been difficult, but why in the jungle? The real reason is that the politicans don't want Veerappan to be arrested. They are afraid he will reveal the names of all the politicians that he has bribed over the last two decades.
In fact Veerappan's nexus is not confined to any specific political party. The grapevine has it that politicians from most parties are 'indebted' to Veerappan.
Also it is not shocking to hear Nedumaran has offered to mediate. Obviously, he knows where the brigand is and he is in constant touch with the brigand. If we are incapable of nabbing Veerappan who is hardly armed, I wonder how our forces will do if there is a war with Pakistan.
The solution is to give a blanket order to armed forces to nab Veerappan. No politician should be allowed to interfere. May be it is time for our Supreme Court to take up this matter in its own hands and issue the orders.
