Rid Parliament of unscrupulous elements
By Vijaykumar S Kasi
We are fortunate to have a few men of calibre and character as our leaders.
However we still end up with several scoundrels in Parliament after every election. The destiny of our nation and our quality of life is vested in the hands of these men and women in Parliament.
The 'Quit India Movement' freed us from foreign domination and exploitation. Let us similarly force undeserving people out of our Parliament. If India has to have any future then the clean up has to start from the top.
We should strive to have the directives of the Supreme Court enforced:
1. All candidates and family members should declare their assets. We don't wish to know the assets of only the winners and we also don't want politicians to hide assets with their dependants.
2. All candidates should declare their educational qualifications. Only then will we get away from vote bank politics and strive to achieve 100 per cent literacy in all states. We do not wish to keep our masses in darkness to feed the greed of unscrupulous politicians.
3. All candidates should declare their criminal antecedents. It is shameful to even think that in 2002 the land of Mahatma Gandhi condones crime in the hallowed halls of Parliament.
If evil rules, our future will be dark and misery our destiny.
We need to rise at this critical moment in Indian history. Let us not rest till we win this war to clean up Parliament. If we fail to rise to the call of duty, our future generations will never forgive us.
