New political party is the need of the hour
By Dr Bandlamudi Subba Rao
There is every need to start a new national party as the present political parties have miserably failed the people. Religious fundamentalism, casteism, regionalism, corruption, violence and criminalisation of politics have become the order of the day.
To liberate the people of India from these cancerous ills, there should be a new dispensation at the helm of the affairs, which can show the light and path of development and peace to the comity of nations in the world.
As Swami Vivekananda once said, "India will rise once again like a phoenix not by its strength, but by the spiritual power", there is every need to start a political party at national level, which can show the light of Asia to the world.
The appropriate name would be 'BHARATA DESAM', one of the unfulfilled desires of late lamented N T Rama Rao.
People of patriotic thirst like Rajnikanth should be asked to associate with 'BHARATA DESAM'. His famous remark that "Tamilians are calling me as a Kannadiga. Kannadigas are calling me as a Maratha. Marathas are calling me as a Tamilian, but unfortunately nobody is calling me as an Indian" shows the agony of average Indian who is torn apart by the power hungry political class, who can go to any extent to exploit the sentiments of the people to serve their ends.
To provide solace to the people, 'BHARATA DESAM' should be formed with clean and honest patriotic individuals like Rajnikanth, P Chidambaram from Tamil Nadu, Mullappally Ramachandran from Kerala, Raj Kumar from Karnataka, Alapati Rajendra Prasad from Andhra Pradesh, Jambavantarao Dhote from Maharashtra, Kiritbhai Bhat from Gujarat,Ranbir, Yadav from Haryana, Subhash Tripathy from Uttar Pradesh
and P A Sangma from North East.
Services of people from diverse fields like literature, dance, cinema, scientific community should be enlisted to take the message of Indianness to the nook and corner of the motherland. If every thing goes well 'BHARATA DESAM' will contest all the seats for the ensuing elections to the Lok Sabha in 2004 and will liberate the motherland from the present day bandicoots.
'BHARATA DESAM' will not promise moon to the people. It will strive to provide "ROTI-KAPADA-MAKAAN".
The agenda would be:
- The new Lok Sabha will be converted into a constituent Assembly to change to Presidential Form of government.
- Rajya Sabha will be abolished.
- List system of representation as in vogue in Sri lanka and Scandinavian countries where the political parties get representation based on their voting percentage.
- The present corrupt judiciary will be dispensed with a new selection process by constituting the National Judicial Commission.
- The unchecked corrupt bureaucracy will be dispensed with a committed bureaucracy for the government of the day.
- There will not be any employment guarantee and bureaucracy will come and
go with the political masters as in USA.
- The ill gotten wealth of politicians, bureaucrats, judges and corrupt businessmen will be confiscated by the state.
- Public hanging will be enforced on economic and social offenders.
- Minimum number 33 per cent seats will be reserved for women in legislatures and government jobs.
- Security forces, ie, military, paramilitary, police and other forces who lay down their lives for the future of the motherland will have precedence over the civil bureaucracy in salaries, prestige and status.
- Atomic power will be used against aggressors and NO-FIRST USE doctrine will be scrapped.
