Hats off Premji...We're Indians first & last
By Bharatram Gaba
I read with unconcealed delight Azim Premji's answer to a question that was posed to him in the "GREAT" US of A ('Religious discrimination more in US than India'). He was asked whether it was difficult to be a Muslim in India. His answer would have made Gandhiji proud - "I am an Indian first. If it was so difficult being a Muslim in India, I wouldn't have been where I am today".
Sometimes, we get so overwhelmed by the Togadias, Modis and Thackerays of the country that we forget that we too exist - people like me, people like Premji. People who take pride in being INDIAN first and INDIAN last, and the hell with what religion one adheres to.
I don't know if you're back in India, Premji and I don't know if you're reading this, but 'Thank You' for re-affirming my faith in us. I'm quite simply falling in "Prem" with you.
