We need young leaders to reshape Democracy
By Nir Patel

Elections are coming up in Gujarat and other states in a few months. The voters will choose their leader base on caste and personal interest, which has been happening since Independence of the country.

Some may stick to their old friend "Congress". But, there are problem in all parties. No one is clear hundred per cent and we should not accept it also.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power with a lot of expectation from the public, but they could not fulfil it. There is no doubt that they have done a lot compared to Congress' 45 years of rules.

I am not a fan of Congress or BJP. I am Indian, Gujarati and everybody should think that way. We always talk about corruption by politicians, but they are not the only one's responsible for that.

During election time, the educated do not vote. Many voters expect candidates to send vehicles to pick them up to the voting booth. Many people enjoy parties held by politicians and then we talk about corruption.

Do we have the right to talk about it? No, not at all. We like to choose the mafia and gang leaders because they will get our work done faster than those with the good background. So how can we say that out Democracy is not working.

We are participating in this process too. Many voters will vote Congress because of Sonia Gandhi (Nehru, Indira, or Rajiv). On the other hand we oppose multinational companies and Western countries, but we love to see Sonia.

There won't be any other shameful day for India than when Sonia becomes the Prime Minister or President of the country. Can't we find one good person out of these billion population? If not then it will be shameful to say that "I am proud to be an Indian"!

We need young leaders to reshape the country towards real Democracy. Having a good person alone at the top doesn't not help county to achieve what it needs. We need new ideas and enthusiasm to do something better.

There is not doubt that India has changed a lot than what it was 45 years ago. But a lot still needs to be don. We are 50 years behind and to get ahead in that race, we need drastic changes in the political, legal, social, educational and health sectors.

We should forget the vote bank politics and government employees should work without being lazy or corrupt. There is still a lot to say on what needs to be done, but I think this is enough for those who want to understand and do something for the country, for themselves and for the future generation.
