New Delhi: A meeting of the Cauvery Monitoring Committee (CMC) on September 1 evolved a "comprehensive" formula for distress sharing of the river water but Karnataka rejected it.

Water Resources Secretary A K Goswami told reporters after a meeting of the officials from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry that a "comprehensive formula" was evolved at the meeting which would now be presented before the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) headed by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
