New Delhi: Hours after the Supreme Court directed Karnataka to keep releasing 9,000
CUSECS of Cauvery water everyday to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka Law Minister D B Chandra
Gowda on November 1 said that the state would obey the apex court directive.
"Whether it is possible or not is not the question. We have to obey the Supreme
Court order and that we will," he said when asked whether it would be possible for
Karnataka to release the water to Tamil Nadu.
Stating that it was a "difficult time" for Karnataka, Gowda said that though there
were problems, Karnataka would obey the order.
He said that in the Cauvery River Authority meeting the states could talk in detail
and examine the ground realities.
"If Prime Minister calls the CRA meet soon, it will be good for us."
He, however, refused to comment on the deferring of the action on contempt against
Karnataka Chief Minister.
