New Delhi: The Union Government on February 6 submitted before Supreme Court that the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) meeting scheduled for February 10 should go on with or without the quorum and the decision of the Prime Minister, who is the chairman of the CRA, should be treated as an order of the Court.

Submitting before a three-judge Bench headed by Justice R C Lahoti, Attorney General Soli Sorabji stated that the meeting has unnecessarily been postponed in the past due to the absence of one or the other Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry.

He said as the matter relating to the sharing of Cauvery water is of grave importance, the meeting scheduled for February 10 should go on even if one of the Chief Ministers does not attend it.

Further, the Attorney General said that to lend force to the decision of the Prime Minister heading the CRA, the same should be treated as an order of the Court.
