TDM to organise padayatra for rights over Cauvery
Thursday, December 11 2003 16:10 Hrs (IST)

Thanjavur: Cadres of Tamil Desiya Munnani will organise a padayatra (walk) to Neyveli in Cuddalore District from Thanjavur on December 14 calling for the restoration of the rights of Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery water dispute.

P Maniyarasan, Organiser of the Munnai, told journalists in Thanjavur yesterday (Dec 9, 2003) that the padayatra would commence from Grand Anicut 30 kms from here. About 100 farmers and Munnani cadres would take part in the padayatrra, which would be led by Thiagu, Pozhilan and Kastururangan, besides Maniyarasan himself.

Maniyarasan said the Karnataka Government had refused to honour the interim verdict of the Supreme Court or the Cauvery Water Tribunal even though the issue had been discussed by the monitoring committee and experts.
