Bangalore: An emergent meeting of the Karnataka Council of Ministers on October 27 discussed the Cauvery issue in the wake of sharp observations made against the state government by the Supreme Court and is meeting again late on October 27 night.

"We are meeting again tonight," Chief Minister S M Krishna told reporters as he emerged out of the two-hour long meeting held at the state secretariat.

Krishna declined to answer whether the meeting had taken any decision on water release to Tamil Nadu. Nor was he willing to comment on reports that the Congress High Command had asked his government to release water.

"We are meeting again tonight," was all he was willing to say as the meeting took stock of the situation following the rapping that the state government received from the apex court for "wilfully" disobeying its order asking Karnataka to release water.

An all-party meeting is being held in the afternoon but it has lost its significance as major parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and JD (Secular) have decided to boycott it in protest against what they called "politicisation" of the Cauvery issue by Krishna by undertaking the 'padayatra'.

Ministers were also tightlipped about the discussions in the meeting.

Krishna, who arrived in Bangalore on October 27 morning from Delhi where he was camping since last week, held discussions with senior ministers before holding the council of ministers meeting.
