Chennai: Setting aside all the political differences, people of Tamil Nadu should come together to work hard for the final verdict of the Cauvery water tribunal, DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) president M Karunanidhi has said.

For the last 10 years, the final verdict of the tribunal has been awaited, Karunanidhi told a Kannada daily at Bangalore last night (Jun 27, 2004) in an interview the transcription of which was made available to the press in Chennai.

Asked why he had not sought the portfolio of Union Water Resources Ministry, he said if the portfolio was allocated to members from either of the State the issue of Cauvery water sharing could have become more problematic.
