New Delhi: Upset with the postponement of the crucial Cauvery River Authority (CRA)
meeting, Karnataka Chief Minister on November 29 said he would have to seek legal
opinion on the future course of action on the contentious water-sharing issue, which
has seen the state at loggerheads with Tamil Nadu.
"I will have to seek legal opinion from lawyers and legal advisers. The meeting was
called at the behest of Karnataka," he told reporters when asked about the impact of
the
postponement of CRA meeting on his state.
The Chief Minister said he had expected an "amicable settlement" at today's meeting
taking into account the requirements of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu together.
The decision to postpone the meeting followed the inability of Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister J Jayalalithaa to attend it due to indisposition.
Asked whether Jayalalitha's absence was 'deliberate', Krishna said, "I would not be
uncharitable. I would not like to make any comment".
Stating that the Supreme Court had also directed that the CRA met at the earliest, he
said the spirit of the Apex Court direction was that the CRA considered the views of
the Cauvery Monitoring Committee, which visited the reservoirs in both the states.
