Chennai: Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rengasamy left for New Delhi by a scheduled
flight on October 29 morning to call on the Prime Minister A B Vajpayee, in
connection with the release of Cauvery waters to Karaikal region.
He was accompanied by three of his ministerial colleagues and Pradesh Congress
Committee (PCC) chief V Narayanaswamy.
The Chief Minister was booked to leave for Delhi on October 28 but postponed his
visit to October 29 morning.
The delegation, led by the Chief Minister, would also meet the Deputy Prime Minister
L K Advani and Union Agriculture Minister Ajit Singh, to use their good offices to
ask Tamil Nadu to release their quota of Cauvery waters for Karikal region as and
when it was made available by Karnataka to Tamil Nadu.
A group of 17 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and political party leaders had
left for Delhi on October 28 night.
