New Delhi: The ruling NDA (National Democratic Alliance) could end up just short of an absolute majority in the 543-member Lok Sabha, according to exit polls at the end of the third phase of polling today (May 5, 2004).

The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is expected to get a majority in the coming Lok Sabha elections, bagging around 287 to 307 seats against the Congress-led alliance which is expected to secure around 143 to 163 seats,according to an opinion poll conducted for NDTV and Indian Express by A C Nielson.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance may corner about 276 seats, getting a clear victory in the coming Lok Sabha polls with the saffron party improving its own tally to about 197 while Congress would slip to an all-time low of 101 seats, according to projections of a latest opinion poll.

"BJP on its own will improve on its 1999 performance of 182 seats and increase its tally to about 197. NDA allies are likely to lose seats and come down to 79 seats this time," said the poll conducted for the newsmagazine 'Outlook' by Marketing and Development Research Associates.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) may win over 265 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, followed by the Congress and its allies at 196-plus, according to an opinion poll conducted for Zee News by Taleem.
