Cong victory in AP vote against NDA: Ambika Soni
Tuesday, May 11 2004 17:20 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Congress today (May 11, 2004) said the emphatic victory of party led allies in Andhra Pradesh proved that the people in the State had voted decisively against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and that the margin in the Assembly election have more than surpassed the forecasts of opinion and exit polls.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Congress general secretary Ambika Soni told reporters that the BJP-led allies had been projecting one person as their leader and going around the country but the people of Andhra Pradesh have rejected it.

Stating that the Congress had a long way to go, Soni claimed that the people of the country had voted en masse in favour of her party during the final phase of Lok Sabha polls yesterday.

Soni criticised the BJP-led allies for shying away from a contest on policies and programmes and between political parties and said during the last two or three months they were projecting it as a contest between individuals.
