Thursday, May 20 2004 20:15 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Even as the BJP-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is yet to decide on who would be leader of the Opposition in Parliament, indications are that the mantle is likely to fall on Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would head the Parliamentary Party.

"Our view is very clear that Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be the leader and this would be decided before the beginning of the Parliament session," party spokesman Arun Jaitley told reporters in New Delhi.

BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) sources said Vajpayee has assumed the stature of a senior statesman and in keeping with this, he would be the Chairman of the Parliamentary Party.

Advani would be the leader of the Opposition to coordinate the day-to-day functioning of the party in the House, the sources said.
