| NORTH-EASTERN PROBLEM The Indo-China border problem is not just restricted to Kashmir. On most Chinese maps, its international border with India's Northeast begins with Assam! China has declared Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory and proclaims this in its maps of the region. The Chinese government has consistently dismissed the fact that the people who run the state are Indians. The main problem stems from the fact that China has persistently refused to acknowledge the McMahon line demarcated in the last century, describing it as an imperialist decision, which Beijing cannot accept. Also on its maps, the PRC continues to portray Sikkim, which was absorbed by India in 1974, as an independent country. | ||||||
