Jerusalem: A new Middle East peace plan, drawn up by a quartet of international mediators, was on April
30 presented to Israelis and Palestinians, hours after a suicide bomber blew himself up killing three
people in Tel Aviv.
The road map, which envisions a Palestinian state with internationally recognised borders by 2005, was
presented to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon by US Ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer, Israeli Army
Radio reported.
The United States had earlier said the release would not be delayed by the latest Palestinian suicide
attack.
The plan, which arrived a day after new Palestinian Prime Minister Abu Mazen won Palestinian
Legislative Council's approval for his Cabinet, is intended to be a phase-by-phase route to ending
conflict between Israelis and Palestinians within two years.
The road map – drawn up by the Mid East quartet of the United States, European Union, Russia and
United Nations – lays out conditions that both sides must meet to form a Palestinian state by 2005.
