No refuelling facility to US for Iraq war: Fernandes
Sunday, March 16 2003 13:19 Hrs (IST)

Patna: India will not allow refuelling facility to American war planes in case of a war with Iraq, Defence Minister George Fernandes said on March 16.

Fernandes told reporters at the Patna airport no such request has been made so far and "I do not think that India will agree to provide such facility in case of a US request.

"Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has made the country's stand on a possible American attack on Iraq very clear and I do not think that the government will allow refuelling facility to American planes," the Defence Minister said, before leaving for Jalagarh in Bihar's Saran district to unveil the statue of veteran freedom fighter, Mahendra Mishra.
