Salem: People of Needhipuram and Lakampatty villages in Salem district on March 6 assured the Tamil Nadu special task force (STF), tracking down forest brigand Veerappan, that they would pass on information about the outlaw's movements as and when they received it.

The Tamil Nadu STF inspector general (IG) T K Rajendran, who met the villagers to enlist their co-operation in nabbing the brigand, said any information on the precise whereabouts of Veerappan would be of immense help. Besides, the villagers would receive an amount of Rs 5.50 crore, which was the reward on Veerappan's head. The name of the informant would be kept secret, he added.
