Mysore: Jailed Tamil activist Kolathur Mani, whom forest brigand Veerappan had
demanded as an emissary to end the Nagappa hostage crisis, on December 13 said the
bandit would not have killed the Janata Dal – United (JD-U) leader.
"If Nagappa had been alive, it would have been a gain to Veerappan," Mani told
reporters without elaborating.
When asked about allegations linking his name with the killing of Nagappa, he
ridiculed it and said he wondered how anyone could talk about it when he was
languishing in jail.
He termed Nagappa's killing as "most unfortunate and beyond one's
comprehension".
The court adjourned to December 23 next hearing of the case filed against him for
allegedly supplying arms and explosives to Veerappan.
