Chennai: Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on December 14 demanded a Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of former Karnataka minister H
Nagappa as "it had inter-state ramifications".
In a statement, BJP's Tamil Nadu unit general secretary H Raja said contradictory
reports over the entire episode were pouring in. Reports had also said that the
diary maintained by late Nagappa was found near the place where his body was
found.
Both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were indulging in a war of letters over Nagappa's
death, which, he said, was most "unfortunate". Only a CBI probe would solve many
mysteries behind the death, he added.
Instead of blaming each other, both states should leave the matter to CBI and
concentrate on capturing forest brigand Veerappan, with Central
assistance.
He welcomed the Centre's announcement that it would extend all help to catch
Veerappan.
