Udhagamandalam: The forest department officials have imposed restrictions on the
free movement of tourists at Madumalai wild life sanctuary and also at the adjacent
forest areas at Singara, Mavanallha, Bokkapuram and Siruyur as part of checking the
Veerappan menace in these areas.
The department had also instructed the private tour and transport operators not to
bring tourists inside the forests and warned them of severe action if the orders
were violated, assistant conservator of forests (North division) N Srinivasan said.
