Bangalore: The Karnataka Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two more associates
of the forest bandit Veerappan on charges of aiding the outlaw to kidnap Janata Dal-
United (JD-U) leader H Nagappa.
The state STF commander Jyothi Prakash Mirjee in a statement issued from M M Hills
on January 16 said Krishna and his brother Narayana, hailing from Kollegal taluk,
were taken into custody on January 15 from their hideout near Lokkanahally village,
about 20 kms away from Kollegal.
The arrested during interrogation have confessed that they provided shelter and
supplied food to Veerappan gang for about 30 days before the outlaw took Nagappa
hostage from his Kamagere farm house on August 25.
Mirjee said the duo also met Veerappan five times and escorted three associates of
the fugitive, who have already been nabbed, to the bandit hideout.
Mirjee said Veerappan had taken the assistance of Krishna in identifying the
residence of Nagappa and Minister for Agro Foods, A Rajugowda, for which the accused
was rewarded in cash and deer meat.
Nagappa's dead body was recovered from Chengadi forest area on November 8.
The STF of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have mounted an intensive operation against the
outlaw and his gang since then.
