Chennai: R R Gopal, editor of Tamil byweekly 'Nakkheeran', has filed a defamation case in a city court against former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) C Dinakar for making charges against him in the controversial book, 'Veerappan Prize catch-Rajkumar'.

Gopal, who had gone to the woods as an emissary to secure the release of Kannada actor Rajkumar, has also made Delhi-based 'Rashtra Rachana Printers' and 'Konark Publishers' as respondents in his petition filed in a metropolitan court.

Gopal contended that Dinakar has made defamatory allegations against him in the book lowering his reputation.

The petition, which was filed on December 16, had been posted for further proceedings on December 24, Gopal said in a statement.
